The W5-22 Truck Symbolic sign, indicating "Trucks Crossing or Entering," is used to warn drivers of trucks entering or crossing the road ahead. According to Transport for NSW's Traffic Control at Worksites V6.1, this sign must be used in conjunction with the relevant PTCD warning sign or traffic control sign. 

For example, if trucks are entering the worksite from a side road, the W5-22 sign should be placed in advance to alert drivers. Similarly, if trucks are crossing the road within the worksite, the sign should be positioned appropriately to warn approaching traffic.

It's important to note that the W5-22 sign may be installed by councils on the network they manage without seeking traffic committee or written approval from Transport for NSW.
